For Alabama boy, a gift that keeps on giving
MOBILE, ALA. - When Jacob Brooks gave away his own birthday gift, people noticed.

Jacob, a first-grader at Mobile Christian School, was asked along with other students to donate $1 to the Eastern European Mission Bible Fund during the school’s recent Spiritual Enrichment Week.

The baseball enthusiast decided instead to give $100 of his birthday money, which he had been saving to buy sports equipment, said Gina Englund, Jacob’s teacher. read more
Chinese government approves worship services for Olympic visitors
Church members who travel to Beijing for the 2008 Olympics have a place to worship — thanks to an American mission and the Chinese government.

The congregation, dubbed the “Beijing Church of Christ,” will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays, Aug. 3-24 in the Huandao Boya Hotel, 2 W Wan Shou Rd. Aubrey Johnson, minister for the Peachtree City, Ga., church, will preach Aug. 3 and 10. Bo Pugh, the church’s youth minister, will preach Aug. 17 and 24. The service is open to holders of passports from outside China. read more
