Volunteers help rebuild flood-damaged Tennessee church

God’s Pit Crew rolled into Tennessee last week to help rebuild Shacklett Church of Christ, which was severely damaged by last month’s flooding. Twenty-eight volunteers from the nonprofit crisis response team based in Danville, Va., spent five days restoring the church on Highway 70 in the Shacklett community.

Inspiring Christians in Nashville

I’m in Music City to speak at the Christian Scholars Conference on a panel exploring this question: “Will Print Survive in the Stone-Campbell Movement?” I’ll share more on this later. Schrader Lane church helps with Nashville flood relief

The Schrader Lane Church of Christ is among congregations helping with the ongoing flood relief effort in Nashville, Tenn. “Everybody in there is in a God-giving spirit,” Joyce Bumper, whose East Nashville home sustained flood damage, told a local television station. “I’m grateful I heard about it.”

Tennessee church ‘gives a hand up’

The Mt. Juliet Church of Christ, east of Nashville, Tenn., has created a Web site called GiveaHandUp.com as part of its flood relief effort. Involvement minister Jonathan Pettus reports that the congregation is now a financial collection and distribution point for flood relief in the Nashville area.

Lipscomb recruiting volunteers for flood relief

Lipscomb University is recruiting volunteers to help with Nashville, Tenn., area flood relief this weekend. The university, already serving as a Red Cross emergency shelter for flood victims, announced Wednesday that it will partner with a nonprofit disaster relief organization and several Nashville churches to help clean flood-damaged homes.
