Relief work ongoing in flood-stricken North Dakota community

Volunteers from Churches of Christ Disaster Response Team are in Minot, N.D., helping church members clean up and repair flooded homes. While flood-stricken North Dakota has disappeared from the headlines, the community’s needs remain immense, said Daniel Kelly, minister of the Minot Church of Christ. The homes of six families in the 60-member congregation sustained flooding damages, Kelly said.

Vermont congregation helps flood victims after Hurricane Irene

The Springfield Church of Christ in Vermont is helping flood victims in nearby towns after Hurricane Irene. Elder Ernest “Puggy” Lamphere said the 80-member church was pleased to receive a truckload of emergency food boxes, personal care kits and cleaning supplies from Nashville, Tenn.-based Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort.

In Minot, N.D., the Minot Church of Christ is doing its part to help residents after this summer’s devastating flooding. The church partnered with the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort to help bring much-needed supplies into the area, an area television station reports.

Church of Christ helps with Missouri flood relief

KHQA-TV in Hannibal, Mo., reports:
Dozens of Marion County flood victims braved the heat outside the Church of Christ in Hannibal Monday afternoon. Inside, members from United Way’s Northeast Missouri Chapter of Unmet Needs began handing out cleaning kits, clothes, food and water to name a few.
They, along with members fom the Church of Christ spent days in preparation for the event. The group’s ready to handle as many as 150 people, that number coming from the United Way’s flood victim list. All supplies were donated by The Churches of Christ Disaster …

As record rainfall deluged Oklahoma City on Monday, a number of area residents endured scary moments. Among them were Austin Lowry, an Oklahoma Christian University student, and his mother, JoAnn. They are members of the Edmond Church of Christ, my home congregation.
