The terrorist attacks on 9/11 resulted in nearly 3,000 death. As Americans all over the country prepare to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 911 here at home, one college is reaching out to those who died who were not American. Harding University in Searcy, Ark., started a unique program this year to collect flags from the 55 countries that represent the 381 non-American lives lost on 911.

John Tesseyman, who helps World Bible School ship its lessons to churches across the nation, is a native New Yorker who worked for the transportation department in New York City at the time of the 9/11 attacks. He and his wife also were members of the Manhattan Church of Christ. Tesseyman was in a subway when the planes hit the twin towers of the World Trade Center. In the video, he recalls the moments after the attacks and the Sunday service that followed.

The annual Asia Mission Forum, a meeting of missionaries from Churches of Christ across Asia, reached the half-century mark recently. Organizers have provided a treasure trove of photos, videos and speeches from the event. A record-breaking crowd of 252 people attended the forum, held this year in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

About 100 church members and representatives of community organizations gathered in Kansas City, Mo., recently to celebrate South Sudan, which became an independent nation on July 9. “I know they say it takes a village to raise a child,” John Gak told the audience. “It takes an entire church — the Swope Parkway Church of Christ — to build a school in my hometown.” Gak, a native of South Sudan and a member of the Swope Parkway church, oversees Brothers’ Organization for Relief, or BOR, a ministry dedicated to establishing a church and multi-use education building in Kongor, Gak’s hometown.
