Faulkner University student killed in wreck on way to preach
Faulkner University reports:
The Faulkner University community is mourning today the tragic death during the weekend of Major Sanders, 18, a freshman criminal justice major from Stockbridge, Ga. Major died in a car accident Sunday morning while he was traveling to preach at Lafayette (Ala.) Church of Christ.
“He loved the Gospel and he loved to preach,” said Faires Austin, dean of students, in describing Major. “He was well-liked by all the students and loved to make people laugh.”
Andrew Itson, campus minister at University Church of Christ, spoke at a devotional service Sunday dedicated to Major. He said Major drove an hour-and-a-half every Sunday to preach at Lafayette, a small congregation near the Alabama-Georgia border. He had dropped off his brother, Malvin, a senior at Faulkner majoring in Biblical studies, at a church in Opelika Sunday morning, where Malvin helped with the youth group.

I know he will be missed by those who love him. It is a tragedy for those left behind, but a VICTORY for him. His journey is over, he has reached his final destination, and what a destination it is…HEAVEN!
He has gone so soon. May his soul find a peaciful rest with the Lord.
Our prayers are with the Sanders family and the Faulkner community as well. May God grant peace and comfort to grieving hearts.
OUR BROTHER WILL SURELY RECEIVE HIS REWARD FROM OUR FATHER GOD
We all have an experation date what will change when we put ourselsves out there in the world. Stand in the road and it will change. We are all terminal, we need to live as today is the last day.
My prayers go out to the Sanders family and the Faulkner community.
This is a goodnews. He was really found watching. I pray God to give his immediate family the fortitude to bear his demise. Hope to meet him in heaven
It’s always a sad day to lose a young dedicated Christian! Major Sanders’ sermon will never be delivered, but somehow his notes can be printed and put on this website as a memorial. The title could be if there is not one “My Very Last Sermon Before Meeting The Master”. Although I do not know this young man his heart was in the right place. May God bless his family as they grieve the loss of such a wonderful young man. To the parents “I Know You Are Proud of Major”.
I pray for our young preacher. I also pray for our “up and coming” young “faithful gospel preachers” for they are needed so very much.
May God bless the Sanders family with peace and comfort today and in the coming days. I grieve with you over the loss, but, thankfully, we do not grieve as those in the world do who have no hope.
We are so sorry to hear about this. We are praying for you Tracy and your family.
He went to sleep at the wheel and woke up in the arms of God! RIP Major, we will miss you!
Major was the closest thing I had to a big brother. I was always a grade behind him at Woodland High, but he always made me laugh and smile. I will never forget the first or last conversation we had. I love you Majie! I will always remember you telling me everything will be alright when times got rough and you always screaming hey beautiful to me when I waled into Mr. Nagy’s class, even when I looked terrible. I ask that you watch over Cory, Madison, and myself. My prayers go out to you and your family! Forever in my heart and always will be! I love you bubba! Xoxo <3
