In a review of GSN’s “The American Bible Challenge,” The Christian Chronicle’s Kim Mauck described the Bible game show hosted by Jeff Foxworthy as entertaining, if not all that challenging.

Susan Reese says Mauck’s review nailed it.

Reese, a member of the South Holland Church of Christ in Illinois, will appear with her husband, Derrek, and son, Daniel, 17, on Thursday night’s episode of “The American Bible Challenge.”

The family, dubbed the Sweet Reeses, will play for the charity Created Treasures Performing Arts Academy, a school that uses the arts to teach and heal.

“It was so much fun,” Susan Reese said of the taping. “The questions are very easy. If you love the Bible, then you read it a lot. Then you know what all these facts are. So it’s an easy game show. But we had a blast.”

The Reeses flew to Los Angeles on a Wednesday, attended Bible study that night at the Inglewood Church of Christ and taped the show that Thursday.

“He’s such a fun guy,” Susan Reese said of Foxworthy. “He has a real love for the Lord.”

It is a fun show but lightweight. We watched the first one but have not since. The scoring is hokey in that there is such disparity between the segments. A team could max the first segment and not win. But is IS about the Bible.

A member of the Southwest church of Christ in San Antonio, TX suggested I watch the show and I did. I enjoyed the program. I answered all the questions correctly. I feel sure that 90+% of the members of the church could answer all the questions correctly. But it is one thing to remember and respond in the privacy of your home and it would be another to do the same thing before an audience. I congratulate the Reese family for appearing on the show and hope to see them.
