Church sets up medical fund for 2-year-old Gabbi, daughter of missionaries to Peru
The website of the Estes Church of Christ in Henderson, Tenn., reports:
This summer, (the Cook family) came to the States for the birth of their second child, Conner. While in the States, they took their young toddler daughter, Gabriela (Gabbi) to the doctor for a check-up. The doctors unexpectedly found a mass in Gabbi’s abdomen that has since been diagnosed as hepatoblastoma, a fairly rare type of cancer that is taking up approximately 80% of Gabbi’s liver. Gabbi is two years old. She will undergo around 6 months of chemotherapy and then will hopefully be able to have surgery to remove the tumor. The chemotherapy starts Thursday, August 30.
The Estes congregation has affirmed its support of the Cooks during this difficult time. Our normal support will continue, of course, but we also want to give our kind and loving church family and friends the opportunity to help with Matt and Charla’s medical expenses, travel expenses, food expenses, and miscellaneous expenses during this difficult time in their lives. We have established “Gabbi’s Medical Fund” to receive any such gifts. The Cooks will be able to use these funds as needed for their family.

We are Ann Cook’s neighbors. She has told us about Gabbi and we just wanted to let you know that we are praying for all of you. I hope that Gabbi is doing better with the treatments. It was so sad to hear this news. I realize that you do not even know us but, I really enjoy talking to Mrs. Cook and when she was telling me the news I could not help but to cry. Again, we will be praying with faith, believing in a great and powerful God for healing. God Bless, the Denhams
