Christian Home and Bible School in Mount Dora, Fla., is celebrating a $2 million gift.

Nicole Cardoso, director of public relations, shared this news release:

Mrs. Dorothy B. Thompson, of Leesburg, Fla., recently made a gift of $2 million to Christian Home and Bible School of Mount Dora for a new wing and complete renovation of their Science building.  The gift was made to honor her late husband, Jerome B. Thompson, a renowned chemist and inventor.  Mr. Thompson received his doctorate from Minnesota University, and went on to develop and patent numerous products.

Several years ago, Mrs. Thompson made the lead gift for a new residential group home to house children living on the CH&BS campus.  The Thompson House was dedicated on October 2, 2010, and provides accommodations for up to 10 at-risk girls and their house parents.

Located a brief 45-minute drive north of Orlando, Christian Home and Bible School (“Mount Dora Bible”) is a private pre-kindergarten through 12th grade institution placed on a beautiful 70-acre campus. CH&BS is committed to providing a positive, challenging, Christ-centered environment for learning and growing.  The school is accredited by both the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the National Christian School Association. CH&BS inspires a passion to learn, a courage to lead and a commitment to serve.
