Church members brave heat to celebrate — and sing — on Fourth of July
The Kansas City Star in Missouri reports on Fourth of July activities — including a parade — that took place despite triple-digit temperatures:
As the color guard arrived at First and Main, Payton Dishman treated parade-goers to a stirring “Star-Spangled Banner,” in a voice beyond his 14 years.
He’s been tuning his instrument, singing a cappella at Heartland Church of Christ.
“Singing is my passion,” he said.
Nervous in front of such a big crowd?
“A little, but after about the first two notes, I’m good.”

How did your church celebrate the Fourth? Did you meet for Wednesday night Bible study, have an abbreviated service, or incorporate your Wednesday night activities into a Fourth of July celebration?

Thanks to Payton for representing the Heartland Church of Christ so well yesterday!
There were many of us also gathered there to solicit monies for young Edisson, a patient @ our Spring Medical Mission Trip to El Salvador.
Edisson needs life saving heart surgery and we are trying to raise the funds to do that.
