Antwines celebrate ’60 years with the Master’

In the South American nation of Venezuela, Clyde and Gwen Antwine celebrated “60 years with the Master.”
That was the title of a seminar hosted by the Antwines, who both have been Christians for 60 years. For 54 of those years, they’ve been husband and wife. The couple served as missionaries in Germany. Clyde is a missionary in residence at Oklahoma Christian University. Gwen is a former employee of The Christian Chronicle.
This was the couple’s third trip to Venezuela, missionary Jonathan Hanegan said.
“Despite the Antwines’ experience as European missionaries, their message and deep love for God and his people touched hearts once again in South America,” Jonathan said. “They taught about the Christian life for singles and married couples. They also taught about marriage, raising kids, suffering, life in the church and preparation for death. The seminar ended with the tearful farewell with the young people of the East Caracas Church of Christ.”
“Clyde and Gwen are known here as ‘los abuelitos,’ the grandparents. They have taught us a lot about love and commitment and left us a great example to follow. We love them dearly.”
