Tsunami orphans send money to Katrina victims
Children at the Wings Children's Home in southeastern India reach over each other to contribute what they can to Hurricane Katrina relief.
Rama Krishna, minister for the Fisherman church and the D.D. Colony
church, both in seaside villages in Andra Pradesh, collected the money
from the 42 children at the home. Many of the children are from the
Prakasam district and were orphaned by the Dec. 26 tsunami.
Krishna also collected funds from local congregations, and sent 10,000 Rupees (exchanged for $224) to White's Ferry Road Relief Ministries, West Monroe, La.
Director Don Yelton said that the ministry assisted Krishna's congregations in the aftermath of the tsunami. A few weeks after this photo was taken, India's Andra Pradesh was slammed with heavy rainfall and flooding. Church members are administering aid.
