Harding chorus sweeps major awards at Polish festival
The chorus from Harding University in Searcy, Ark., performs at the recent Second International Choral Festival and Competition in Sopot, Poland. Sixteen choruses from nine nations entered the competition in three categories: folk music, sacred music and spiritual/gospel. The four-day festival opened with a concert hosted by the Church of Christ and consisted of three days of auditions and concerts in various venues around the resort city of Sopot, missionaries Mike and Molly Dawidow said.
At the Gala Finale, Harding swept the major awards, winning gold diplomas in every category and taking the Grand Prix trophy. “I can think of nothing that enhances the church's image on a foreign mission field like a quality performance by one of our Christian college singing groups,” Mike Dawidow said. “Harding always ... sends as ambassadors for Christ a top quality group of young people.”
