When God is All You Want

Mike Cope. One Holy Hunger: When God is All You Want. Abilene, Texas: Hillcrest, 2000. 155 pages; $9.95; ISBN 0-89112-443-8; (877) 816-4455.

In 13 chapters Cope seeks to help Christians identify their hunger for God, recognize the barriers to knowing God, and explore the characteristics of God. Chapters such as 'God as Father' renew and explore the meaning of the metaphors used to help us understand God. In his chapter on 'Hungering and Thirsting for God' Cope asks, 'What if we really believed that our greatest challenge is to respond to the God who has continually sought us? How would it change how we deal with all the other challenges we face?' Cope is preaching minister of Highland church, Abilene, Texas.
