I cannot say thank you enough for your piece in the November issue about the role of women in the church. From the time I was small I can remember asking my Sunday school teachers how it is possible for women to be excluded from the leadership roles in the church. I struggled to understand my apparent gift for teaching and leading within the parameters of the will of God. At the same time I was hearing from every pulpit and lectureship series that I needed to submit. Finally I remarked to a friend that I dont really mind submitting, if that is Gods will for my life, but I am sick and tired of men hitting me over the head with that word SUBMIT!!! I thank God that He has shown me a way in which I can use the talents that He gave me and also conform my will to His. I thank you for showcasing the ways in which women through the years have been able to conform their lives to the good, pleasing and perfect will of God and at the same time use their God-given gifts of leadership to His glory. It is high time that women begin hearing messages of empowerment in the will of God rather than messages that imply the only gift God has given us is that of preparing the potluck dinner. Thank you for your message of empowerment in the will of God!
