I would like to add my voice to quite a few of your readers who are still defending the faith once delivered to the saints. This concerns your practice of presenting conflicting views with a positive slant on the liberal view while overlooking conservative views (how did the Church ever get to that worldly terminology?)
You do allow a good brother like Stafford North to present the truth every now and then, but for the most part the Chronicle acts as if those that still believe the bible teaches that there is only one church, only acapella music is permitted, and women are not to hold leadership positions in the church are the ones that are changing the church when it is just the opposite. Most of us know who the major changers are. They are the ones who are usually invited to be the major speakers at our lectureships. I have attended lectureships at two of our largest universities for the past 10 years and I am getting tired of being subjected to their liberal slant. One practice that has become a standard is having a 'praise team' of men and women leading singing. What a sneaky way of getting women before the worshipers!
I would like to recommend to your readers to go online (www.christianchronicle.org) and read a letter to you from Dixie Schmittou of the Clemson church of Christ, Clemson, S.C. If all women (and men) were interested in following the scriptures as her letter indicates we wouldn't have the divisions we now have. My mother, who used to work for The Christian Chronicle under James Walker Nichols, would certainly agree. More could be said, but I hope this gets the point across that a good newspaper like The Christian Chronicle should be vigilant in upholding the truth and not bowing down to our 'well-known' preachers.
