HITACHI CITY, JAPAN - For the first time in nearly 40 years, the Omika Church of Christ has elders.
Church members have studied the qualifications and attributes of leaders for the past three years and recently named Hideki Ataka and Jim Batten as the congregation’s elders.
Ataka has preached for the Omika church for 30 years. Batten has been involved with the congregation for nearly 40 years and serves as chancellor of nearby Ibaraki Christian University.
