SPRINGVILLE, TENN. - Church members and fans of a cappella music mourned the loss of Gary Miller, who died March 12 at age 60. He was a founding member of Vocal Union, an a cappella group that performs in a Southern Gospel style. Vocal Union is part of Acappella Ministries, overseen by Keith Lancaster.

During his career, Miller also sang bass for Acappella. He was the chief recording engineer, songwriter and producer for many albums produced by Acappella Ministries.

“As the leader of Vocal Union, he shaped the group into a stellar blend of smooth harmonies and powerful messages,” Lancaster said. “His sweet and gentle Christ-like spirit will be remembered by everyone who met him.”

Friends and family gathered for a memorial service at the Sulphur Wells Church of Christ in Springville.

Miller was the sole income earner for his family. Friends set up a fund to help pay for the funeral and other expenses.
