African college gives reasons to rejoice

To say that I am happy is an understatement. In fact, I am very excited to know that at last we have a university college in Ghana. (See “Dream for Christian college materializes,” Page 1, August)

I couldn’t understand why a church like ours didn’t have a single university, while other denominational churches had at least one.

Let us contribute generously to this project. God bless anyone involved with this project.

Oh yes! “This is the day that the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it.” As (one) of those who witnessed the great ceremony of signing a memorandum of understanding between Abilene Christian University and Heritage Christian College, and as a Bible student of Heritage and a preacher, I urge everybody to join hands to help this dream come through.

Praise for hard-working churches in Canada

Thank you for writing this article on one of many churches that are dear to me in Saskatchewan. (See “Little church on the prairie,” Page 19, August)

For a few years in the mid ’90s, Gravelbourg also hosted a youth rally for nearly 80 teens from Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta, being another light in the province to encourage fellowship and relationships with Christian friends to those of us who were spread out all over the two or three provinces.

Not only did the parents of all of the teens in these provinces drive hundreds of kilometers for hockey games, but also to youth rallies and teen events nearly every month.

Thanks to Western Christian College and other congregations, the legacy of so many you mentioned in this article was instilled in many of us who are now adults in these congregations.
