EDMOND, OKLA. - Tennessee preacher Phil Sanders will join the “In Search of the Lord’s
Way” television ministry in January, helping with fundraising and
occasionally speaking.
Sanders, 57, minister of the 500-member Concord Road church in Brentwood, Tenn., for 13 years, announced to his congregation Nov. 9 that he would be leaving to work for “Search.”
At the 1,200-member Edmond church, which has sponsored the nationwide television ministry since 1982, elder Jeff Whitehead made a similar announcement.
“Brethren in Oklahoma have asked me to come and work with them and in time be the speaker on the television ministry,” Sanders said in a public statement he shared with The Christian Chronicle. “They believe and I believe that it is the Lord’s will that I pursue that great and crucial work at this point in time.”
Whitehead told the Edmond church: “Phil will initially work as a fund raiser and research person for the ministry with some presentations on the ‘Search’ program.”
Mack Lyon, who turns 87 on Nov. 19, has been the program’s speaker since starting “Search” on a small NBC affiliate in Ada, Okla., in September 1980 when he preached for the Wewoka church. In 1982, Lyon moved the ministry to the Oklahoma City area and put it under the Edmond church’s oversight.
The program has made Lyon one of the most recognized faces in Churches of Christ. It airs on 80 broadcast stations, 130 cable and public access stations, 23 radio stations and two satellite networks.
Lyon declined to comment to the Chronicle on Sanders joining “Search,” saying he first wanted to send a letter to the ministry’s supporters.

In the article about Sanders joining "Search tv" it said Lyon wanted to send letters to the search supporters before making a comment. Is that an indication that Lyons wants to recommend Sanders or not?

Mack Lyon does a good job with Search. But it would seem the cart got in front of the horse if Mack was not willing to make a comment.
