Thanks for editorial, column
As usual, the October editorial (Page 34) is well done. I offers hope as the cure for many things that ail us. You are to be commended. ... I'm blessed also by Bailey McBride's report on his visit with brothers and sisters in Mombasa, Kenya (Page 38, October). A hopeful report!

Getting youth back in the church

If we are to get our young people back in any worthwhile numbers, we are going to have to change our ways. We need to allow the Holy Spirit to come into our hearts and into our churches and clean us from top to bottom. ... The world offers a kind of love that has drawn tons of young people away from the church, and we have run tons more away with our un-loving ways. Let's clean up our act and show some of God's genuine love towards every living person and especially God's precious next generation

With great interest I have followed the series "Are we growing?" ... In the storiy "Are we losing our young people?" (Page 1, July), many of the questions were centered around how children that grow up in the Churches of Christ leave ofr other churches or no church after the age of independence.

Two much better questions may be "Are we making lifelong growing disciples (not just dragging them to the baptistery) of all people right here among us of every race, ethnicity and socio-economic level, etc.?" and "Why are we making so few lifelong growing disciples of our offspring"
