LANCASTER, ENGLAND - Church members in small congregations scattered across Europe sometimes are “fooled into thinking that our fellowship can be small and perhaps lacking in vision and resources,” said Alastair Ferrie, minister for the church in Dundee, Scotland.
Ferrie and about 70 other church members were treated to what the
minister called a “veritable feast” of fellowship at the recent
European Christian Workshop on the campus of Lancaster University.
In addition to British church members from England, Scotland and Wales,
attendees came from Croatia, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Spain and the
United States.
Keynote speaker Tony Coffey, a minister from Dublin, Ireland, told the
group about his efforts to share the gospel with people from a Catholic
background. Speakers discussed approaches to evangelism in the 21st
century, ministry for the hearing impaired and FriendSpeak, a
Texas-based ministry that trains church members to reach out to their
international neighbors, helping them improve their conversational
English while studying the Bible.
The next workshop is scheduled for Aug. 27-29, 2009.
