Planting rice to feed the poor in southern India
Workers in Pavera, a village on India's southwestern coast, plant rice in a five-acre field acquired by church members recently. The harvest can feed 130 needy people per day, said Tony Coffey, a minister in Dublin, Ireland, who assists the 70-member Pavera congregation.

Many of the workers "donate a few hours of free labor each week, knowing that the crops are grown to meet the needs of those who are poor," Coffey said. Indian minister Vijay Kumar oversees the work.
