Local church takes lead in Papua New Guinea

Church members reported six baptisms and numerous new contacts after a recent World Bible School campaign in this South Pacific nation.

The Alotau church in the Milne Bay Province sponsored the July 29-31 campaign at the town's marketplace.

Missionary Leslie Williams said that the local members played a large role in its success.

“One of the greatest benefits of the campaign was the number of local church members who involved themselves in the months of prep work before the campaign kicked off, offering courses throughout town,” Williams said.

More than 50 people attended day sessions and nearly 200 attended evening lectures, featuring guest speaker Jab Mesa, headmaster of the Melanesian Bible College in Lae. Seven campaigners from the Westover Hills church, Austin, Texas, participated.

The Westover Hills church sponsors Alotau missionaries Marcus and Diane Reese. The Germantown, Tenn., church sponsors Williams and his wife, Loopie.
