Same-sex attraction: Resources
Following is a list of Christian resources for those struggling with
homosexuality or those interested in ministering to others struggling
with same-gender attraction.
Some of these ministries have a theological basis different from Churches of Christ, but provide approaches and services recommended by church members.
Exodus International: www.exodus.to
Exodus is a nonprofit, interdenominational Christian organization based in Orlando, Fla., promoting the message of 'freedom from homosexuality through the power of Jesus Christ.' It's also the largest Christian referral and information network dealing with homosexual issues in the world. A list of current qualified member ministries is available on its Web site (see 'Find A Ministry'). Each listing is an independent organization that has met Exodus' criteria for membership.
Living Hope Ministries www.livehope.org
One of Exodus' referral ministries, Dallas-based Living Hope is overseen by Brady Cottle, a member of the Farmers Branch Church of Christ. The ministry “seeks to fill a void in the ministry of the church,” according to its Web site. In addition to those struggling with homosexuality, the ministry reaches out to those affected by homosexuality — spouses, families and friends. The ministry provides support and education for those ministering to homosexuals, including ministers, counselors and educators.
Embracing Arms www.embracingarms.net
This Tallahassee, Fla.-based ministry is supported by four local churches of Christ. Church leaders launched the ministry to assist those struggling with same-sex attraction, but have since expanded its scope to all forms of addictive behavior — from heterosexual promiscuity to alcoholism.
Sally Gary sally.gary@acu.edu
Sally Gary is assistant professor of communication at Abilene Christian University, Abilene, Texas. She runs a support group for students struggling with same-sex attraction. Kurt Boyland, a counselor at ACU, has developed a curriculum for the group and assists the group.
Campus Crosswalk www.campuscrosswalk.org
Campus Crosswalk is a resource compiled by campus ministries at churches of Christ across the nation. Though there is little material here dealing with same-sex attraction, the site contains state-by-state list of campus ministry contacts for those interested in finding resources in their area.

I am a marriage and family therapist in the metro Atlanta area specializing in Christian sex therapy. Among the variety of sexual issues I address, I provide services to individuals and couples sorting out sexual identity concerns. I was wondering if you are still adding to your present resource list. Thanks.
