Allen preached in five states, was chair of the department of Bible at York College and was president of Crowleys Ridge College. The colleges current president, Ken Hoppe, credits Alley for keeping the school alive in the early 1980s.
Alley is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bettye; four children; 14 grandchildren 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister.
Dana A. Blocker
Dana A. Blocker, 89, longtime church member and newspaper editor, died Jan. 4 in Sherman, Texas.
Blockers newspaper career spanned 50 years. At the time of his death he was editor emeritus of the Sherman Democrat. He was deeply involved in the Sherman community and with the churches where he was a member, most recently Western Heights church, Sherman.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, two daughters, two stepsons and one stepdaughter.
Leota Newton Glover
Leota Newton Glover, 91, longtime church member, died Dec. 28 in North Richland Hills, Texas.
Glover, a homemaker, was a charter member of the Northwest church, Fort Worth. She is survived by five children, Billy Glover, John Glover, Linda Smarr, Rita Flatt and Ruth Street; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters.
Mark Hall
Maison-Elizabeth Hall
Mark Gordon Hall, 39, and his daughter, Maison-Elizabeth Hall, 6, died as the result of a Dec. 18 car accident near Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
The Hall family, members of the Conyers, Ga., church was traveling to Miami for a holiday cruise.
Mark Hall was owner of Hallmark Turf and Tractor, Conyers. Maison-Elizabeth Hall was an elementary school student active in many sports and activities.
One newspaper described her as full of life and adventure, always wearing a smile.
They are survived by Nancy Dixon Hall, their wife and mother who was also injured in the crash.
Four young sons Ryan, Patrick, Brendan and Case were not injured in the crash. Other survivors include grandparents and great-grandparents.
Pearl Orr
Pearl Catherine Orr, 97, longtime Canadian church member, died Nov. 15 in Saskatoon, Sasketchewan, Canada.
She and her late husband, Wilfred, helped establish the first church of Christ Bible schools in Saskatchewan in 1931 and were heavily involved in forming Radville Christian College, later Western Christian College.
In her early 80s, she served for three years as a missionary in Papua New Guinea.
In 1988 she received Canadas Heart of Gold for her humanitarian work on behalf of the country.
She is survived by five children Harold Orr, Lois Olson, Alice Williams, Raymond Orr and Verna Bastian 36 grandchildren, 99 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Wanda Bryant Rushford
Wanda Bryant Rushford, 86, longtime church member active in ministry, died in Pocahontas, Ark., Dec. 8.
Rushford was deeply involved in church life, for many years at the Strathmoor church, Detroit, Mich. She converted her late husband, Jimmy.
She is survived by two sons, Jerry Rushford and Mark Rushford, two grandsons and two granddaughters.
James Earl Shady
James Earl Shady, 67, longtime minister, died Dec. 17 in Wichita, Kan.
Shady preached for church in five states during 35 years of ministry. He preached at numerous gospel meetings and directed youth camps.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Margaret; children Dan Shady and Carmen Diven; two granddaughters; one brother and one sister.
Walter C. Stovall
Walter C. Stovall, 86, longtime church member, died Oct. 2 in Modesto, Calif.
Stovall was a charter member of the San Mateo, Calif., church and was later a member of the Waterford, Calif., church.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; children Robin Stovall, Don Stovall and Vernon Stovall; two grandchildren and two sisters.
