Rushford honored at Pepperdine lectures

The Pepperdine University Bible Lectures began in 1943, and for the past 20 years of its existence, Jerry Rushford has been at its helm.

On May 3rd, during the Malibu, Calif., school’s 59th annual lectures, the Christian Chronicle recognized his dedication to the event with a special award, presented by Lynn McMillon, dean of the College of Bible at Oklahoma Christian University, Oklahoma City, and general manager for the Chronicle.

The Chronicle honored Rushford as a minister, 'scholar, teacher, journalist, friend and promoter of good will among churches everywhere,' according to the text of the award. McMillon said it was appropriate recognition for a man who has honored many others during previous lectureships.

Rushford was part of a team coordinating the 2002 lectures that also included Tali Barbarick, Patty Atkisson and Bill Henegar. Pepperdine President Andrew Benton honored Rushford as the lectures began April 30.

'Our Bible lecture series is a university-wide effort,' he said. 'We are especially grateful for the visionary leadership of Jerry Rushford, who has helped us create a truly distinctive program.'
