MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The youth group at the North Boulevard church worked for four months putting together a special day for Chance Stringer, a 7-year-old boy fighting brain cancer.

Members have helped with several such efforts by the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Middle Tennessee.
GEORGIA

SNELLVILLE — After a recent Sunday morning service at the Snellville church, 25 couples were inducted as charter members into the Marriage Hall of Fame.

Entrance requirements were simple: Be a present or past member of the congregation and have 50 or more years of marriage. The honorees’ pictures were placed on a permanent display in the fellowship hall. Seven additional couples are approaching the 50-year milestone and will be added to the hall of fame, church leaders said.


KANSAS

WICHITA — For 105 years, the Central church has maintained a presence in the downtown area of Wichita.
Recent discussions by the church about whether to remain downtown or relocate to another area of the city led to two decisions, leaders said.

First, the church will remain in its present location and reinvest in ministry and facilities. Second, the name will change, better reflecting its location downtown along the Arkansas River. The congregation will be known as the RiverWalk Church of Christ.


NEBRASKA

DAVENPORT — More than 100 people from six states worshiped with the Davenport church recently as the congregation celebrated its 125th anniversary.

“Several (who attended) are in their 80s and told stories of the church in the 1920s and 30s,” church member Richard Swenson said. “Several former preachers or members of their families were here. Many sent letters, which we read. On display were old documents and photos, which were interesting to the history buffs. It was a great day!”


MICHIGAN

PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth church recently invited the community to participate in two outreach events.

The first event was Dave Ramsey’s “Town Hall of Hope,” a nationwide video streaming of a presentation by the Christian financial guru. The second event was the showing of “Fireproof,” a faith-based movie on marriage.


PENNSYLVANIA

PITTSBURGH — There’s much to take into consideration when a church plans a mission trip — where to go, how to fund the trip, areas of greatest need.

Planning their summer mission activities, members of the Whitehall church saw the need to help in their own neighborhood, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. Members set up tents in an apartment complex and provided many services free to residents, from blood pressure testing to financial counseling.

A Vacation Bible School was offered for the complex’s children, along with a Bible study class for the adults.


WISCONSIN

SHEBOYGAN — The Wednesday night youth study group at the Sheboygan church put into practice its studies concerning being a servant.

The children raised money by collecting aluminum cans and doing work projects for their parents, The Sheboygan reported. They also had a bake sale and asked for donations.

The beneficiary: church member Jason Hernandez, who attends York College in Nebraska and needed funds for a chorus trip to New York this summer.
