YORK, NEB. - Mabrey L. Miller, a longtime York College faculty member and an elder at the East Hill church, died Jan. 18. Nicknamed “Doc,” he was 86.

He and Madge, his wife of 64 years, had been a part of the York family for more than 50 years. He was among the first faculty members in 1956 when the college reopened. Over the years, Miller taught math and Bible and served as registrar, dean of students, athletic director, tennis coach and academic dean.

The 2005-06 academic year was dedicated to the Millers for their half-century of leadership at York.
Miller is survived by his wife, four children and their spouses, and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and son Kirk.
